McClain looks to continue record-setting pace this weekend
The Valor are back on the road this Sat., July 1, taking on the Tampa Bay Storm for the fourth and final time this season. Saturday’s matchup kicks off at 7 p.m. at Amalie Arena. In their last meeting, a 58-57 Storm victory, Valor QB Sean Brackett threw for career and franchise highs of 299 yards and seven touchdowns while WR Charles McClain set a franchise record with 215 all-purpose yards.
VALOR PLAYER TO WATCH: WR CHARLES MCCLAIN – After setting the franchise record for single-game all-purpose yards in Week 11 against the Storm, Valor WR Charles McClain set another benchmark in Week 12, becoming the first player in team history to catch three-or-more touchdowns in consecutive weeks. McClain registered nine receptions for 137 yards and three touchdowns in Week 11 at Tampa Bay and six receptions for 51 yards and three touchdowns Friday against Baltimore.
STORM PLAYER TO WATCH: QB RANDY HIPPEARD – The Storm are led by QB Randy Hippeard, who tops the AFL in completions, attempts, completion percentage and passer rating, as well as both passing yards and passing touchdowns per game. Hippeard has also thrown the fewest interceptions (5) among QBs who have played in five games or more.
MATCHUP TO WATCH: WAS QB SEAN BRACKETT VS. TB LB ALVIN RAY JACKSON – Brackett has made a name for himself in his first four games in a Valor uniform, throwing five-or-more touchdowns in three of his four appearances – including career and franchise records of 299 yards and seven touchdowns in Washington’s last matchup with the Storm on June 10. Tampa Bay linebacker Alvin Ray Jackson leads the team in total tackles (37.5), forced fumbles (2), fumble recoveries (2) and interceptions (1).
