The Streak Is Over – The Philadelphia Soul's winning streak is no more. After 17 wins in a row overall and 15 straight in the regular season, the Soul saw their streak come to an end with a 49-42 loss to the Baltimore Brigade. Instead of celebrating the longest winning streak by any team in AFL history, the Soul are forced to settle for second-best. Dan Raudabaugh's streak of 14 consecutive starts with a victory was also stopped, as was Philadelphia's run of eight straight road victories.

Carden Joins Rookie Elites – The presumptive Rookie of the Year, Shane Carden was at the center of all of the action in Week 14. He completed three touchdown passes of at least 41 yards, including the Hail Mary at the end of the first half that completely changed the tide of the game, and he finished with 271 yards and five touchdowns. By beating the Soul, Carden became the first rookie since Nathan Stanley in 2014 to knock off a defending ArenaBowl champion.

Shane Carden (2017 vs. Philadelphia)

Nathan Stanley (2014 vs. Arizona)

Jeff Smoker (2007 vs. Chicago)
Sonny Cumbie (2006 vs. Colorado)
Chad Salisbury (2000 vs. Albany)

Racking Up the Sacks – Beau Bell picked up two sacks in short order of Carden in Week 14, and in doing so, he moved into seventh place all-time on the career sack list. Only five have ever reached 50 sacks for their careers before, but Bell is knocking on the door. With his two sacks on Saturday night, Bell also has 10 sacks to lead the AFL. Jake Metz was the league-leader in sacks in 2016 with just eight over the course of a 16-game season.

Mike Lewis: 59
Joe Sykes: 53.5
Jermaine Smith: 51
James Baron: 50
Tom Briggs: 49
Beau Bell: 48
Francis Maka: 46.5

Benson Powers Into 3rd All-Time – Not all was lost for the Soul in Week 14. Mykel Benson had one of his better days of the season, accounting for 20 yards as a receiver and 29 as a rusher. But it was his touchdown in the third quarter that made the most headlines. Benson now has 104 career rushing touchdowns, allowing him to surpass the great Andre Bowden for the third most in AFL history.

Most Rushing Touchdowns in AFL History
Derrick Ross: 195
Barry Wagner: 127
Mykel Benson: 104
Andre Bowden: 103
Odie Armstrong: 101

Hills Ties Harrell's Touchdown Streak – By his own standards, Joe Hills was relatively quiet in Week 14, catching nine passes for 62 yards and three touchdowns. In the process, though, Hills improved his streak of consecutive games with a touchdown reception to 78, tying Damian Harrell for the longest such streak in AFL history.

McGinnis Becomes Top Sack Man in Cleveland – Robert Stewart held the all-time lead for sacks for the Cleveland Gladiators for quite some time. His team record of 20.5 sacks stands no more. Willie McGinnis now has 2.5 sacks on the season after picking up a half sack of Randy Hippeard in Week 14, giving him 21 for his Gladiator career.

Going Long – The Tampa Bay Storm opened up their game with the Gladiators in Week 14 with a six-play, 45-yard drive that ate 3:58 off the clock. That's a long time to have the ball in the AFL. But that paled in comparison to the 13 plays and 9:16 they ate on their second drive. The 9:16 was the longest drive in terms of time of possession since the LA KISS ran an 11-play, 9:23 field goal drive against Arizona back on June 27, 2015.

-Shaun Kauleinamoku now has 501 career receptions, making him the sixth active player in the AFL to reach 500 catches.

-Baltimore became the first expansion team to beat a defending ArenaBowl champion since 2015 when the Las Vegas Gladiators beat the Arizona Rattlers.
