Doubleheader in the Beltway with playoff implications in both games
LAS VEGAS – The Cleveland Gladiators (4-9) travel to take on the Washington Valor (2-10),
Saturday, July 29 at 7:00 p.m. ET at Verizon Center LIVE on CBS Sports Network.
With two weeks remaining in the season, the Valor have an
outside shot to make the 2017 AFL Playoffs with wins in their final two
games. Wins versus the Gladiators and Baltimore Brigade could force a
three-way tie, which favors Washington due to its combined record versus
the Brigade and Gladiators. In order for this scenario to work, they
will also seek help from the Philadelphia Soul who will need a win over
the Brigade this week. The Gladiators, on the other hand, were able to
snag a playoff spot last week. By virtue of a Brigade loss to
Washington, they factored out well in the event of the three-way tie
scenario. The Gladiators will get to play one-game and be the recipient
of the final bye week before they head to their playoff destination yet
to be determined.

Philadelphia Soul (11-1) as they take on the Baltimore Brigade (4-8),
Saturday, July 29 at 1:00 p.m. ET at Royal Farms Arena streaming on AFLNow and Twitter. The
Soul return to the scene of their first-loss in 17 contests after
losing a closely contested affair to the Brigade, 49-42, on July 8th and
will have revenge in their minds. The Brigade will need a win in their
final two contests to eliminate the Valor from Playoff contention and
secure the #3-overall seed. That scenario would allow them to travel to
Tampa Bay (bye this week) instead of having to travel to the defending
ArenaBowl champions, whom they are playing this week. Brigade
quarterback, Shane Carden,
