Washington looks to end Tampa Bay’s five-game winning streak
For the second time in four weeks, the Valor take on the Tampa Bay Storm at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. The Storm took the last matchup, 53-47, in a back-and-forth contest that came down to the final seconds. The Valor look to rebound from their Week 9 loss to the Cleveland Gladiators while the Storm are looking to stay hot after a 47-35 home win over the Baltimore Brigade.
VALOR PLAYER TO WATCH: WR GREG CARR – Returning to his home state of Florida, Carr enters Week 10 having accumulated 19 receptions, 211 yards and six touchdowns in his last two games. The former Florida State Seminole grabbed 12 passes for 131 yards and four touchdowns against the Philadelphia Soul in Week 8 and seven passes for 80 yards and two touchdowns against the Cleveland Gladiators in Week 9. In two games against the Storm this season, Carr has registered seven receptions, 109 yards and a touchdown.
STORM PLAYER TO WATCH: QB RANDY HIPPEARD – The fifth-year pro leads the AFL in completions (178), attempts (254), completion percentage (70.1), passing yards (1,882), passing touchdowns (44) and passer rating (126.0). His top target, WR Joe Hills, leads the league in receptions (70) and receiving touchdowns (20).
MATCHUP TO WATCH: VALOR QB SEAN BRACKETT vs. STORM D-LINE – Since QB Erik Meyer went down with a hamstring injury, Sean Brackett has taken control of the Valor offense, throwing for 523 yards and nine touchdowns in his first two games with the team. Brackett’s pocket presence will be put to the test this weekend when he faces off with an explosive Storm defensive line, which sets the tone for a Tampa Bay defense that leads the league in tackles for loss, sacks, forced fumbles and recovered fumbles.
BROADCAST INFORMATION: Saturday’s game will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network.
