Valiant Efforts for Valor Secondary
– It was a great week in Week 8 for the Washington
Valor secondary. They held Dan Raudabaugh, one of the top quarterbacks
in the AFL over the course of the last decade, to just 10-of-22 passing
for 148 yards. Neither Tracy Belton nor Cameron McGlenn managed an
interception, but both were fantastic on the day. Belton is still
sitting on 49 career interceptions, while McGlenn has 39.

Hippeard Closing in on 300 – Tampa Bay Storm quarterback Randy Hippeard is moving in on 300 career touchdowns. He's probably not going to get there for a few weeks yet, as he's got 282 for his career, but he can surpass Bernard Morris (27th) and perhaps Joe Germaine (26th) this week against Washington.

Lewis Kicking in 200th Career Game – Mark Lewis has been kicking in the AFL since 2004. Even kicking in a day and age where field goals are rarely kicked, Lewis has 107 field goals, sixth most in AFL history, and he enters Week 9 with 1,193 extra points, 102 more than anyone else ever. This game is the 200th in Lewis' career, and he's going to be the fourth man in AFL history to play that many games.

Hills Continues Climbing Receiving Lists – Joe Hills is inching closer one game at a time to Damian Harrell's record of 78 consecutive games with a touchdown reception. If he scores this week against Washington, he'll be at 75 straight games with a trip to the end zone. But Hills is also inching up the career receptions list, too. Five receptions in Week 9 will put him past Marcus Nash (661) and into 24th place all-time in AFL history. Hills also has 212 career touchdowns, and two more lets him run down Randy Gatewood (214) for the 14th most receiving TDs all-time. Tampa's top wide receiver needs 101 yards to catch Tyronne Jones for the 25th most receiving yards in AFL history, while another 50 will get him to Ben Nelson in 24th.
