LAS VEGAS (August 9,2016) – The Arena Football League has announced that Jacksonville’s Derrick Ross, Philadelphia’s Beau Bell and Arizona’s Arkeith Brown have been named as the Under Armour Offensive Player, Riddell Defensive Player and AFL Playmaker of the Week for the First Round of the 2016 Postseason, respectively. In addition to these awards, the AFL has awarded Jacksonville’s Tiger Jones the Cutters Catch of the Week, while the AFL Highlight of the Week was awarded to Cleveland’s Larry Beavers. UNDER ARMOUR OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ross (6’0, 250, Tarleton State) helped lead the way as the Jacksonville Sharks (8-9) defeated the Orlando Predators, 69-68, in overtime at Amway Center to advance to the American Conference title game next Sunday. The perennial All-Arena performer rushed 12 times for 26 yards and four touchdowns and added the game-winning two-point score in overtime. The fifth-year veteran finished the regular season leading the AFL with 399 rushing yards and tied for the AFL lead with 20 rushing touchdowns in 2016. The Sharks will travel to play the No. 1 seeded Philadelphia Soul (14-3) at PPL Center in Allentown, PA on Sunday, August 14 at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN2 in the American Conference Championship.
RIDDELL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Bell (6’2, 245, UNLV) led the Philadelphia Soul defense as they defeated the Tampa Bay Storm, 63-41, on Sunday night at PPL Center in Allentown, PA. The fifth-year veteran tallied 2.0 total tackles, forced two fumbles and added a sack to help seal the victory. Bell finished the regular season with 12.5 total tackles, 2.0 sacks and three passes defended from the Mac linebacker spot. The Soul will host the No. 3 seeded Jacksonville Sharks (8-9) at PPL Center in Allentown, PA on Sunday, August 14 at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN2 in the American Conference Championship.

AFL PLAYMAKER OF THE WEEK: Brown (6’0, 190, Texas A&M) helped lead the Arizona Rattlers to their sixth straight National Conference title game with an 84-40 victory over the Portland Steel at Talking Stick Resort Arena this past weekend. The fourth-year veteran hauled in two interceptions, forced and recovered a fumble and added two tackles. Brown finished the regular season leading the Rattlers with 49.5 total tackles, six interceptions and 32 passes defended in 2016. The Rattlers (14-3) will host the National Conference Championship against the Cleveland Gladiators (8-9) on Saturday, August 13 at 9:30 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.
CUTTERS CATCH OF THE WEEK: Jones (5’11, 195, Louisville) got a little assistance from the net when making a 27-yard touchdown catch at the end of the second quarter in Saturday’s 69-68 overtime win over the Orlando Predators. The former Cardinal hauled in 105 receptions for 1,218 yards and 18 touchdowns in the regular season. Jones and the Sharks will take on the Philadelphia Soul in the American Conference Championship on Sunday, August 14th at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
AFL HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK: Beavers (6’0, 180, Wesley) came up huge in the fourth quarter, when he recovered a kickoff that bounced off the bar for a touchdown to put Cleveland up 56-46 with 0:30 seconds remaining. The touchdown helped give Cleveland the cushion they needed to defeat the LA KISS, 56-52, and move onto to face the Arizona Rattlers in the National Conference Championship on Saturday, August 13th at 9:30 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.
