Storm Falls In Regular Season Finale

Tampa Bay Storm loses to Philadelphia Soul, 41-28

Philadelphia, PA – The Tampa Bay Storm (10-4) were defeated the Philadelphia Soul (13-1) by a score of 41-28 in front of 9,071 fans at Wells Fargo Center. 

The team completed the season 10-4, its best record since the 2010 season, and its best season by winning percentage since 2003.  The Storm went on to appear in the ArenaBowl in both seasons.

The Storm opened the game with quarterback Randy Hippeard.  Hippeard completed 2-of-7 passes for 45 yards.  Backup quarterback Chris Bonner came in at the top of the second quarter and threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to Justin Hilton on his first attempt.  It was Bonner’s first career passing touchdown.  He finished the night with 227 yards, four touchdowns and completed 15-of-26 passes.

Storm receiver Joe Hills led the team with seven catches for 98 yards and a touchdown.  He now has a receiving touchdown in a record 81 consecutive games.

The Soul was led by quarterback Dan Raudabaugh who threw his 700th career touchdown.  He finished the night completing 12-of-15 passes for 145 yards and a touchdown.  He would also add one on the ground on his only rush of the night. 

The top Soul receiver was Darius Reynolds, who led all receivers with seven catches for 104 yards and two touchdowns.

Tampa Bay will return home to AMALIE Arena and host the Cleveland Gladiators (5-9) in the first round of the Arena Football League Playoffs on Monday, August 14.  Kickoff is set for the 7:00 p.m. ET.
