Fourth-and-final meeting in season series set for Friday at Royal Farms Arena
The Baltimore Brigade and Washington Valor face off tomorrow, August 4 at 7 p.m. at Royal Farms Arena. This will be the regular season finale for each team and the fourth meeting between the two franchises this season. Washington leads the series 2-1 and won the last outing, a defensive battle, 34-30, on July 22 at Verizon Center, though Baltimore won the only prior matchup played in Baltimore, 51-41, on June 23.
With Washington losing last weekend to the Cleveland Gladiators, the Brigade officially clinched their birth in the 2017 AFL Playoffs. Their seeding and opponent, however, have yet to be determined. With a win over Washington this Friday, the Brigade would be the #3 seed and face the Tampa Bay Storm on Monday, August 14 in Tampa. A loss to the Valor would put Baltimore in the #4 seed and set up a matchup with the Philadelphia Soul on Saturday, August 12 in Philadelphia.
BRIGADE PLAYER TO WATCH: WR BRANDON THOMPKINS – Thompkins enters Week 18 having scored a receiving touchdown in four-straight and six of the last seven games. He led the Brigade with 67 yards and a score last weekend against the Soul. Thompkins also makes an impact on special teams – returning two kickoffs for touchdowns this season in his time played with the Cleveland Gladiators.
VALOR PLAYER TO WATCH: WR T.T. TOLIVER – Since his return from an injury that kept him out for four weeks in the middle of the season, Valor WR T.T. Toliver has now found the end zone in four-straight games, including his six-catch, 113-yard and three-touchdown performance against the Brigade in Week 16.
MATCHUP TO WATCH: BAL WR REGGIE GRAY vs. WAS DB MICHAEL KNIGHT – Brigade WR Reggie Gray ranks first on the team in receptions (67) and second in both receiving yards (630) and receiving touchdowns (13). Across the line of scrimmage will be Valor DB Michael Knight, who has been a force for Washington as of late, amassing 23 solo tackles and five pass deflections in the last four games.
BROADCAST INFORMATION: Friday night’s game will be broadcast live on Monumental Sports Network.
