TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Storm is pleased to announce that hip hop legends, The Sugarhill Gang, will perform a free post-game concert following the team’s home opener versus the Philadelphia Soul, on Saturday, April 15.  Fans who purchase a ticket for the game will be able to attend the concert which will be held on AMALIE ® Motor Oil Field.

The Sugarhill Gang, pioneers of the hip hop industry, brings nearly 40 years of music history to Amalie Arena.  The group gained international stardom in 1979 with their hit single, “Rapper’s Delight;” a song that would go on to become the largest selling 12” single of all time.  Widely considered the first commercially released hip hop single, and one of the most important songs in hip hop history, “Rapper’s Delight” has been preserved by the Library of Congress into the National Recording Registry.

The Sugarhill Gang would follow-up “Rapper’s Delight” with several hits including “8 th Wonder” and “Apache,” both of which charted on the Billboard R&B Charts.  In 1999, the group would reunite to record “Jump On It!” a children’s hip hop album.

The performance will headline the Storm’s home opener versus the Soul.  The night will also include specials on food and beverages.
