Steel Fall Behind Early Against LA KISS, Lose 66-27

Anaheim - The Portland Steel lost 66-27 against the LA KISS at Honda Center in front 9,235 fans in attendance. Portland’s fifth consecutive loss to start the season.
Darron Thomas made his first-start of the season and completed 25-of-49 passes for 259 yards and 3 touchdowns, but five interceptions would prove costly as three were returned for touchdowns.
The game began with an interception return for touchdown by Los Angeles, Thomas found Jared Perry for a 29-yard touchdown to open the scoring for Portland. The KISS led 13-7 to end the 1st quarter as Stanley found Donovan Morgan for a 4-yard touchdown.
The KISS scored two touchdowns to open the 2nd quarter, Thomas found Tom Gilson for a 4-yard touchdown and cut into the KISS lead. Los Angeles led 27-14 at the half.
A pair of Los Angeles touchdowns to begin the second half led to another Steel touchdown as Thomas found Gilson for a 14-yard touchdown, the duos second touchdown of the night. At the end of the third, LA led 39-21.
Terrence Mitchell started off the fourth quarter strong for the Steel as he returned a kickoff 55 yards for a touchdown. But two more interception returns for touchdowns slammed the door on the Steel for any chance at a comeback. The third interception return for a score occurred as the final whistle blew.
The Steel return to action next Monday night against the Cleveland Gladiators at Quicken Loans Arena in. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. Portland and can be seen nationally on Univision Deportes and heard on 750AM/102.9FM The Game.
